bored roomies take 2!

The roomie & I got bored again, so naturally we decided to do a photo shoot. I have been wanting to do a shoot that was very raw & dark for awhile. I LOVE the images we got, and we shot it so quickly which is always awesome. I only shot 14 frames of this look & we were done! I love when it happens like that :) Anyway, hope you enjoy, let me know what you think.

caroline

So here is my shoot I did with Caroline from Wilhelmina Models. I had an amazing hair stylist & make up artist. Caroline was so easy to shoot. She is only 18, but she has been doing this for years already! What a pro. It was fun to have her in front of my lens.

I did a set of images in color & then in Black and white. Anyone who knows me, knows I love B & W. Here are the black & whites, I will post the color ones later.

There are few things more fun than working with a great team of people toward a common goal.

On that note, yesterday I got to work with some amazing people on a great photo shoot. It started out a little rocky when the hair stylist blew a fuzz with all his curling irons & we had to wait over an hour for the super to get to my place! But once the power was on it was smooth sailing. We got some great beauty shots of Marissa. Marissa was such a sweetheart. She is still very new to the modeling world, but how could you not love this face!?!

west village

So today I found my new favorite neighborhood in NYC. I went down to the west village to pick up some film I had developed at the lomography store (which is a great little store to all my photography friends) & decided I would explore the area. I didn't anticipate doing anything so I only had my small point & shoot camera so the images aren't anything great, but I do love them because the feeling I got from the neighborhood was amazing; relaxing, friendly & positive.

This corner was so cute. On the opposite corner is a place called cafe cluny where I stopped in to grab a delicious coffee.
It is so funny to see where they place gas stations out here. This one was so tiny and set in the craziest spot.
Along with the calm feeling in this neighborhood, there were positive sayings/expressions on every corner! Need an uplift, take a walk in this area.
Love is the answer!

fire escape

I must say that I love NYC. Everywhere you turn you can have an interesting background for a photo shoot. I have shot on my rooftop and fire escape multiple times now and I always find a new angle or area that I can shoot.

These are some shots I did with a model/friend Geoff. We are both shocked that we could even do a shoot this day because we both decided that we would hang out till late the night before than get up with only a few hours of sleep then do a shoot. Not the best idea, but hey, at least we got something accomplished in our day.

These images made me start thinking....I want to do a whole series of shots that are a little old school, rugged NYC. Any male volunteers?

kids

Here is another set of photos from when I was back home in Michigan. I got to see my cousin Tracy & her 4 kids. Her youngest just turned 2 and she wanted some photos of him & since we were doing photos, she wanted some of all her kids. It was great except all the mosquitoes! Who would of thought they would be so intense at 10 am! Note to self and anyone going to Richfield park in Davison, MI, bring mosquito repellent! We got some good images of the kids even with all the bugs.

Ella

So I managed to get away from the city and go back home to Michigan for a few days. While I was there I got to do some photos of little ones....both my friend Sarah's little girl and my cousin Tracy's kids.

These photos are of Sarah's little girl Ella. Ella turned 2 back in May on Mother's Day. We just went to a park and let Ella run around while I tried to capture some images. And she did just that, ran around. That's ok, that's what 2 year olds do! It was fun and entertaining. Ella is such a cute little girl with one heck of a personality. Plus, I got to see her Mama....it was a good day!
